Interestingly, same guy (Steve Stone) has worked on most of the two versions. I dunno...I think I kinda like the darkness of the TBH re-do and the RG one and the GotM one certainly fits with those two. Almost tempted to order a copy of this one, just because.
Why do publishers insist on changing cover concepts part way through a series? Now my books won't look nicely lined up on my shelf once again (referring more to the text style change for book 7 -- I actually quite like the portrait of Rhulad on his throne as the illustration). Maybe you have an actual answer for my question Pat? Will they be redoing books 2 through 5 as well, do you know?
They already have. Deadhouse Gates and House of Chains have the same covers but with the titling and font changed to match the new edition. Memories of Ice is similar to Reaper's Gale (guy with sword, this time standing up wreathed in fire). Midnight Tides is similar to the existing cover but there's a big square thing in the water (a Meckros city?) rather than the Edur warriors.
