Dragonlance Movie Trailer

Considering that they've been talking about a Dragonlance movie for over two decades, this Dragons of Autumn Twilight movie trailer sucks big time.

The funny thing is that I'm supposedly part of the target audience, and Weis and Hickman's Dragons of Autumn Twilight was the novel that introduced me to the fantasy genre. You would think that I'd want to see this flick, right??? Well, after watching this trailer, I don't think it's even worth my time, let alone my money...

Oh my, that looks horrible. Lucky thing I don't consider myself a Dragonlance fan, so I don't feel obliged to go watch this.. crap. It's hard times for the original fanboys I guess.

Looks like something I would see on Saturday morning maybe 20 years ago.

I know I seem like I'm kissing your ass Pat, but the truth is Dragons of Autumn Twilight was also the first fantasy novel I've read and the one that made me obsessed with the genre (and to this day, it still remains one of my favourites) and I can't help but agree with you. This trailer sucks
I don't know whats up with the animation. The majority of it looks like the Conan animated series they had more than 15 years ago. When the dragons show up, it turns into the crappiest CGI I've seen. I guess all the budget went into the voice talent

I'm not sure what's worse, the sucky 80's animation, or the stupidity of the trailer presentation. XD

Oh well, I hope Randy's going to do a good Mike strip out of it, at least.

That was horrible. It looked like an old early 90's saturday action cartton. Like He-man or something. I can't believe someone is actually amkiing this and t isn't a joke.

When I saw this trailer for the first time a few weeks ago, I was sure it was some kind of joke...like if someone had made this and posted it on YouTube...

This is clearly designed to arouse a sense of nostalgia in 30-somethings who fondly remember He-Man and similar cartoons...
I can't find any other plausible explanation for such a CRAPPY animation.

It seems that ever since the LOTR movies any low budget fantasy that would normally go direct to cable can get some sort of theatrical release. This and the Jason Stratham vehicle (In the Name of the King) are merely the latest confirmation of what was already apparent.

Hmmm, I had high hopes until I looked around the forums for this film. I hate to say it, but the choice of animator and the involvement of Hickman and Weis in the project has brought looks to have brought the movie down. DL would have done very well as a live action film and if it was targeted for adults, not teens. I think that over the years, Weis and Hickman have forgotten that their readers have grown up.

That is a shame. They could have done something great with those books. You know it's not good when the trailer sucks. I guess thats why I heard it's going straight to DVD.

If they can't get something as simple as Raistlin's eyes right, then I have no hopes for this movie. They couldn't have made it uglier if they tried. :-p

I am such a lover of these books, having read them for the first time when my son was a teenager (he is now 40) I've reread them more than once and even recently purchased the first 6 books in hardback to read them yet again. I love the characters and so wish they would have brought them to life as they did for lord of the rings, but I realize something that large probably will never be done again... I guess I'll just reread my books and stick to that.

That looks really bad although it does make me want to watch 'Dungeons and Dragons' all over again... ;o)
I don't think I'll be going to watch this one.

Pretty sure such a Hanna-Barbara-meets-high-school-CG-project train-wreck fails a saving throw for suckiness.

Wow, such harsh words :( C'mon dragonlance fans, I saw a free screening and despite the most notable complaint that its animated, it follows the story to a T and IS worth watching. Check it out 01/15/08

I was very disappointed with this trailer as well. However, being an avid DL fan, I have hopes that things will change in the ways of the graphics and with hope...the whole thing will be done in good CGI before its all over.

I have to say, I'm a huge DL fan - have been since I first read the books way back when, and I was looking forward to the movie, despite the crappy trailer.
I work for a movie rental company, and had a chance to see this movie last night, and I was very - very disappointed.
I could look past the bad animation, but some parts were just REALLY bad. Aside from that, the voice acting was really not well done at all - nor was the script-writing.
If you're a Die Hard DL fan like myself, you'll probably want to see it anyway - but my recommendation is to rent it, and not waste 20 bucks.

Considering LOTR wasnt even published till the late 40s after being written much earlier, went through being a crappy animated movie, and the time it took to make it to the big screen, I dont blame Hollywood for taking precautions and following the same footsteps by making Dragonlance a second hand sloppy animation before making it a high tech and A list cast feature film on the big screen. I am sure they just want to see how many fans are really out there that would support a real film by getting your generous donations in exchange for an animated one as a trial and error story board that would do justice to the novels we read. I am sure they wont leave us hanging once their coffers fill to make a better movie. Complaining about it blogs isnt going to do the books justice on the big screen. It will get there. How faithful are the Dragonlance fans? I know I have suggested that trilogy to family as well as friends and even a few strangers. It will make it as long as fans support it.

Yes, the movie sucks. Period. Horrible, horrible execution and bad combinations of styles. I can't believe WoC is even letting their name be on this piece of poop.
