Bland, but in a cool way! Somewhat! I do like it. And like you I anticipate this book so much that I could care less for the cover in which it is wrapped, lol. Thanks for the heads up, Pat !
A book that looks like a book and not like a b-movie billboard.
It stands apart by having a wonderful art direction and being different from 99% of the ugly stuff there's on the shelves. It's intriguing, in the worse case.
It looks like an extreme old-school mid-1960s edition of Lord of the Rings or something. Which will only work if the map of Earwa is in black-and-red and folds out from the inside front caper, and the book is specially given that "rich 'n' musty" smell.
I am trying to work out what relevance a quasi-Mandelbrot set has to do with the Aspect Emperor storyline though.
Disagree completely. It is fully in keeping with the style of the PoN cover art for the Canada/US Hardcovers. I like it quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteOh, I like the style, as it provides continuity with the Prince of Nothing trilogy.
ReplyDeleteBut the choice of color leaves a lot to be desired. It's not like the novel will stand out from what's on the shelves in a bookstore...
I dunno, at this point, garishness isn't exactly the "in" thing for most covers. It'll be interesting to see how it looks in 3D.

Bland?
ReplyDeleteIt's simply wonderful.

Looks good enough to attract attention. :-)

I like it a lot, actually. I prefer it to the trade paperbacks of the US PoN books, at any rate.
