Steven Erikson's TOLL THE HOUNDS synopsis

According to Amazon.co.uk:

"In Darujhistan, the city of blue fire, it is said that love and death shall arrive dancing. It is summer and the heat is oppressive, but for the small round man in the faded red waistcoat, discomfiture is not just because of the sun. All is not well. Dire portents plague his nights and haunt the city streets like fiends of shadow. Assassins skulk in alleyways, but the quarry has turned, the hunters become the hunted. Hidden hands pluck the strings of tyranny like a fell chorus, and strangers have arrived. While the bards sing their tragic tales somewhere in the distance can be heard the baying of Hounds...And in the distant city of Black Coral, where rules Anomander Rake, Son of Darkness, ancient crimes awaken, intent on revenge. It seems Love and Death are indeed about to arrive...hand in hand, dancing. A thrilling, harrowing novel of war, intrigue and dark, uncontrollable magic, "Toll the Hounds" is the new chapter in Erikson's monumental series - epic fantasy at its most imaginative and storytelling at its most exciting."

Just thinking about Toll the Hounds makes me giddy!;-)

Back to Darujistan -- my favorite city?? And Anomander Rake, one of my favorite characters??

How soon can we order!!

So, the two books I'm looking most forward to both come out in the UK next August: Toll the Hounds and Richard Morgan's The Steel Remains.

These are the only two authors I will actually order from the UK instead of waiting for them to come out in the U.S.

Argh! If I could skip forward in time to next August, the loss of ten month of my life would be worth it!

I'm only half kidding.

That synopsis could very easily be the synopsis of Gardens of the Moon. I'm not a betting man but I'd say that is just recycled.

It does seem like a recycled synopsis, with the exception of the reference to Anomander Rake ruling in Black Coral, which certainly puts the time frame well after Gardens of the Moon.

Will we finally get to see who the tyrants are?

I'm so looking forward to this.

I am trembling... Oh, forsaken gods, let my flesh prevail until I've feasted on this morsel of delight!

That was mean of you, teasing us like that. August! Oh, well, something to look forward to, along with all the other books coming out this summer. Mind, this one is at the top of the list.

Pat Made Me Read It.
