Rebel Moon: Yay or nay

I was wondering what you guys thought of Rebel Moon?

Snyder fans enjoyed it, but the critics and casual fans have savaged it as a derivative turd featuring too much slow-motion and too little story.

Someone mentioned that there's a space vagina at the beginning. Just for that, I'm intrigued enough to give at least the start of the movie a shot. But more than 2 hours of scifi crap? I'm not so sure about that. . .

It was okay. Definitely felt like only part of the story. I was not overwhelmed or underwhelmed either.

It was okay. Definitely felt like only part of the story was included.

I will watch the 2nd part but probably would not have if it had been "in theater".

I have to agree with the critics. I didn't think it was particularly bad but definitely contained nothing that hasn't been done already (and better in many instances). I finished it but lost interest in the story about 20 minutes in.

They put so little effort into the antagonists I thought they were trying to be subversive about it and there would be some second layer underneath with a plot point about redemption or something.

But no, they were just nakedly sadistic villians in scifi SS uniforms.

Terrible.

I liked it. It was far from perfect but anything not M-she-U or Disney is a breath of fresh air these days. It definitely made me want to see the sequel and the directors cuts.

Nice to look at. Terrible script. Everything felt rushed and too convenient and not earned by the story. Cliches as far as the eye can see.

It felt like Snyder has big ideas for a universe and backstory, but needs to figure out how to actually make the characters interesting or give anyone any depth and introduce too many characters at once. I felt completely unconnected to all of them. The fight scenes were all slow-mo and could have been more impressive.

So it has that in common with Star Wars - Some good ideas for a premise and overall world/universe build, but give it to someone else to actually write the script and direct (Empire Strikes Back).

The story was obviously derivative in many ways. The look and feel of the bad guys made me think more Warhammer 40K than anything else. I do have to say that visually it was spectacular. The backgrounds and scenery were amazing.
