Thanks to Myke Cole, here's an exclusive first look at the US cover art for the upcoming
Shadow Ops: Fortress Frontier (
Canada,
USA,
Europe), sequel to what remains, in this house at least, the speculative fiction debut of 2012,
Shadow Ops: Control Point (
Canada,
USA,
Europe).
Here's the blurb:
The Great Reawakening did not come quietly. Across the country and in every nation, people began to develop terrifying powers—summoning storms, raising the dead, and setting everything they touch ablaze. Overnight the rules changed... but not for everyone.
Colonel Alan Bookbinder is an army bureaucrat whose worst war wound is a paper-cut. But after he develops magical powers, he is torn from everything he knows and thrown onto the front-lines.
Drafted into the Supernatural Operations Corps in a new and dangerous world, Bookbinder finds himself in command of Forward Operating Base Frontier—cut off, surrounded by monsters, and on the brink of being overrun.
Now, he must find the will to lead the people of FOB Frontier out of hell, even if the one hope of salvation lies in teaming up with the man whose own magical powers put the base in such grave danger in the first place—Oscar Britton, public enemy number one...

Sweet.
That front and center character looks more like George Clooney than is healthy, though :)
Funny you should say that, because I thought the exact same thing! ;-)
So... the guy in the turban looks like Grissom from CSI.
I think it looks like a great cover (especially as a follow-up to his first book), but I have to agree with the center image. If I were the publisher, I'd be concerned with likeness rights. That's not a subtle similarity to Clooney.
Clooney legal nerfbat squad in 3...2...1...
I like the way they've linked the two covers, and I'm looking forward to this as the first one was a lot of butt kicking fun.
Fantastic looking cover. Can't wait for this to come out. I wonder if the positioning of the characters means the focus of this book will not be on Britton.
