GoPro Hero???

Just wanted to know if any of my readers have tried the GoPro Hero camera? I've always wanted something light, waterproof, and simple to use to take with me on my trips.

If you own one or have used one, what do you think? It's only about 120$-150$ (plus the price of a memory card), but I'm wondering if it's worth it?

My digital camera can film in HD, but it doesn't go underwater and it's a bit fragile. The GoPro Hero would remedy that, but I just want to make sure that it's a good buy. . . =)

Not got one myself but talking at work today three of my work mates have one and a fourth was buying one today. They use them for recording bike trips and cycle outings and say the battery is the only real limiter but gives about two hours continued use in one outing. Looking at the device, looks to be pretty good.

Checked the battery life vs some of the high-end GoPro cameras and the Hero lasts a little bit longer. I wouldn't be shooting a documentary, so about 150 minutes of battery time would work for me...

Absolute 100% waste of time and money. The quality of footage and photos is extremely low compared to a DSLR, you have no option but to shoot everything is fish-eye (settings include mild fish-eye to massive fish-eye), its difficult to judge what you're shooting with no playback, battery life is awful, the list goes on. I used mine a few times and am selling it.

I have a hero 3 that I really like. Great for taking videos of my 1 yr old daughter swimming. Also use it for biking and sKiing. Takes great videos and has the option for up to 12 fps still photos. Battery life is pretty weak but you can add a battery "backpack" that doubles battery life to over an hour. Without it I'd guess you get about 45 mins, less if it's really cold...

My husband has one, he really really loves it. Our last trip to Hawaii he got some gorgeous underwater shots. If you plan on using it with diving, make sure you get a red filter with it for better underwater shots.

With all the spam emails I get trying to sell me this thing... maybe I should buy it.

Haha.

Everything I've heard about the GoPro camera seems legit.

I say go for it!
