Quote of the Day

He was old, aye, so ancient as to be broken into multitudes by the Ages. Glorious Iskiak, Spear-Bearer to mighty Sil, the great King After-the-Fall. The legendary Sarpanur, celebrated King-Healer, the great Killer-of-Hells. The infamous Sin-Pharion, reviled Plague-Bearer, the Soul-Most-Hated ...

Aurang, the accursed Horde-General.

He remembered their hallowed vessel faltering upon the shoals of the Promised World, and the Fall, the Inertial Inversion Field piercing the crust to the pith, gouging the landscape, heaving it out upon a cataclysmic hoop, raising mountains to retard their descent ... just not enough.

He remembered the Weal that followed, how Sil had rallied the Holy Swarm from the brink, taught them how to prosecute war with the remnants of their once-dread Arsenal. Sil had been the one to show them how they might still save their eternal souls!

He remembered enough.

The library wants the snow white book back, Machinery.

Got to agree with Machinery on this one. Just because his opipion is not popular doesn't mean it is not valid

Now that is going to be something. If anyone can do the bizarre alien thoughts of a countless-years-old alien, it would probably be Bakker. I wish I had the book now, and didn't have to wait two more months for it.

Pat, your picking some great quotes here. Bakker is my favorite writer.

What exactly makes this "bs type" writing?

I'm almost as psyched for the two Atrocity Tales to be included in the volume as I am for the novel itself. Never got around to reading them but I'm happy to wait until July.

@MC Giraffe Nekk: Both stories are (still) available on Bakker's website:

Didn't know that, thanks!

Look here is the thing. There are alot of things I do not like such as Brandon Sanderson's books or Bruce Springteens music but i dont run around the web insulting their works. Thats just weak sauce to do so.

Look who's back, good old Machinery. He was so pussy-hurt when I told him to stick with his Dragonlance novels last year, he finally turns up from his sulking hiatus just to rip on Bakker. Classic and predictable, go back to you Harry Potter novels...this is big boy writing.

to the anonymous who stays incognito and calls others pussy-hurt...
keep the anonymity , it's what you're good at,

Lmao, dude you are mad...

Hey Machinery, isn't it time you disappeared again? Don't worry, you can come back next time Bakker releases a new book to tell us just how much you can't understand it...errr...I mean can't stand it. Or maybe you want to tell us again how you cant stand Bakker's writing because he just makes it up as he goes (whatever that means)...haha! Damn those authors who use their imaginations! We want more cookie-cuter, familiar, and comfortable fantasy. Dwarves and elves...and hobbits!!

If you don't like Bakker...fine. But going on about it at ad nauseam every time a book is released makes you look like an idiot.

to the childish anonymous : yup i hate bakker (his books i mean, i don't know him personally) , i think his books are pathetic for many reasons.
that being said, i know if someone told me he loved someone i hated or hated someone i love i wouldn't care like you seem to.
and the reason you seem to care, i think, is that deep inside you know i'm right.
people are often upset at what reminds them of themselves.
i think you hate bakker and are too cowardly to admit it. that you read quotes like :
"...Glorious Iskiak, Spear-Bearer to mighty Sil, the great King After-the-Fall. The legendary Sarpanur... " you know that is this totally bs that aims to impress with very little behind it.

and on the off chance that you might actually do like bakker, all i can say is i'm embarrassed for you.

Machinery, you are right to have your.opinion on any book but seriously, why comment here when you hate Bakker? Clearly the post was meant for us Bakker fans.

Hey machinery, Pat just posted another quote from Bakker. Hurry and scurry over to post how bs the quote is. We are all waiting for your deep and insightful opinion. Don't worry, we will give you some time to sound out all the words....
