Thanks for this post! I agree with your list, especially with Black Man at the top. I've only read half of this list so now I have a purpose in life: go get the others to enjoy!

Might be handy to add the links to the particular reviews of these ten books on this site, so we can instantly see how you rated/reviewed that book. ^_^
Haven't yet read every book of this list, but the ones that I read seem very good indeed. Thanks for the recommendations. ;)

I think everything was front loaded this year. After about July I really don't see what I would consider to be a major title on my buy list. Maybe I'm missing something but the second half of the year looks pretty dull.

I'm surprised to see Ysabel so high on the list. I've put off reading it because I had heard it was one of Kay's weaker novels. Maybe I'll have to bump back up the list.

Also, I really need to read Thirteen/Black Man.

Patrick,
Did you read The Prefect by Alastair Reynolds? It won't be out in the U.S. for another year, but I've considered ordering it from the UK as I've heard good things and I like Reynolds, esp Century Rain.

I generally agree, though I couldn't stand Ink--which was doubly disappointing given how good vellum was. I may retry, but the choppy storytelling just didn't work for me. I have been spending this year catching up on older books I never caught, and rereading favorites.

I haven't read THE PREFECT yet...

Which reminds me that I should contact Gollancz to get a review copy of Reynolds' latest!
