I wanted to post a link to this article sooner, but somehow it slipped my mind.
It sure looks like a lot of people are talking about this one. Read it here.
Most disagree with Jonathan, it seems. And since enough arguments have been exchanged by both sides, I see no need to get involved.:-)

Sorry but that fellow comes across as an asshole who needs to be pushed off his pedestal ;)
That is why I hate most blogs. The smug, stinking hubris of complete and total assurance of your own infallibility. It doesn't matter if the blogger is conservative or liberal, they still stink of the same elitism and arrogance. His arguement is itself interesting, but his tone is so condescending and dismissive of his opponents that I don't care what he argues. Really sad that people waste time arguing with people like that, REAL Authoritarians that don't see anything but their own path. Pathetic.
Erm, I really don't understand these types of discussions and where they come from. World Building? Specific genres? Gobbledigook?
I read a book because it is recommended to me or I like the sound of the blurb or reviews. Screw what anyone else thinks, if I like it yay, if I don't then such is life.
Why do people even waste time with these types of discussions? I really am quite mystified about the whole thing.
Jebus, I agree. I bowed out early because I just didn't care if he liked it or not. I don't know why he's so invested in the debate.
sqt: Attention, I believe, some people crave it :)
