Richard Morgan's THE STEEL REMAINS US cover art

Special thanks to Michael for the "heads up!"

Like him, I much prefer the UK cover art. For more info about this title: Canada, USA, Europe.

I like the US version better, myself. I just started the book today so I'll be getting a review up in the not-too-distant future.

It isn't a brash departure from the moody UK art and has the same tone, so that's good.

BTW, I haven't mentioned yet, but I like the redesign Pat!

(forgive me if this is a double post)

The font and gold lettering of Richard's name in the UK edition is beautiful--more than it looks like in the Amazon pic on-line.

And Robb--look for humor while reading TSR. There's quite a bit of it, in amongst all the extreme everything else that's going on.

"A man pitches his yurt where he will, then he has to lie in it." (I found that line a bit funny)

The UK cover is so much better.

This one screams generic fantasy, is not equally evocative and has the most dull color pattern. The kind that gets lost amidst hundreds of other books.

The fact that it will come so late won't help either.

Now I go read some more of my own prettier copy...

...except for the fact that the UK cover was essentially stolen from Travis Smith and Opeth. If you don't believe me, look up Opeth's 'Blackwater Park' on Amazon.

I also like the UK cover better, never have been much for red covers, they are usually too garish for me. I am about 100 pages into the book (UK version). So far nothing earth shattering but I get a sense of thing build up.

Wow, that is one of the best Del Rey covers I've seen in years! Very nice indeed!

I like both covers; Richard got lucky on this book on both sides of the Atlantic!

strangely I quite like the American cover. It is strange because usually I like UK covers more, which is quite right as I'm in the UK.

The UK cover is more haunting and the US is more scary I think.

I don't think either cover is particularly stunning, to be honest. Granted the UK one is more reminiscent of a typical grim murder-mystery than a typical fantasy, so it stands out a teeny bit more on the fantasy shelf, but neither would particularly get my attention if I wasn't already looking out for it.
I'd say it swings minorly the US cover's way, though...
