I read this blurb a while ago and all I could think was: squid triggering an apocalypse... that's Watchmen, right?
Sounds interesting (and the cover art sure is nice), but I found his last book so hard to read that I'll probably give this one a miss until the trade release.
So it's not a New Crobuzon novel, then? Those blurbs got me thinking of VanderMeer and Ambergris, though I don't think we need to be worried about Mieville 'borrowing' from anyone, let alone VanderMeer or Watchmen.
Dan Brown meets H.P. Lovecraft.
Sounds awful, but I'll give it a whirl as he's done so well so far.

Loved Perdido Street Station, loved The Scar, and yes, I very much liked The City & The City, so I'll definitely pick up this.
