THE LAST AIRBENDER final trailer

Shyamalan's last couple of movies left a lot to be desired. But The Last Airbender looks like it's going to be something.

Let us hope it will live up to the expectations generated by the trailers. . .

And yet another Hollywood film suffering from the ridiculous Orange & Teal colour palette disease. I'll go see it 'cause I love the cartoon but I'll hate the bloody colours.

Actually, the pre-screen comments from a couple of months before were so devastating, I don't think this one is going to be even entertainingly dumb...

Sorry, but this looks very lame. Dragon Ball meets The Matrix. Ugh...

The acting looks somewhat ropey, but the effects work is impressive. The first time magic-use looks convincing and not just a ridiculous effect overaid on top of the action, and bodes well for when and if high-magic fantasy series are adapted to the screen.

If nothing else the profile of the original source material - which is superior to either DRAGON BALL or THE MATRIX (or at least its ponderous sequels) - should be raised, and hopefully we'll get that Region 2 release of the entire series, which is excellent (and has an ending that makes BSG's and half of LOST's look even more pathetic). Given your recent foray into anime Pat, you should consider checking it out.

For those who have not seen the cartoons I would recommend watching them first. All three seasons preferably. But probably the first whole season. It is IMHO one of the best animated series ever. A good story, fun for adults and children, back-story makes good progression from episode to episode, and they wrap the whole thing up nicely at the end of the third season.

I'm crossing my fingers they don't ruin it with the live action movie.
