Some Dragonlance news and drama. . .

Matt Bialer notified me of the existence of this thread last week, but I forgot to post the info. My bad. . .

It appears that the forthcoming Dragons of the Hourglass Mage by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman won't be published this summer, as was originally planned. The authors were late in delivering the manuscript (hardly unusual in the publishing world), and it appears that Wizards of the Coast have refused to look at anything they will turn in.

As you can expect, Dragonlance fans are more than a little upset. Click on this link to learn more. . .

I really REALLY hope this is a case of a big mistake! I have been long awaiting this last book about Raistlin!!!!!!!

I just can't imagine Weis and Hickman not turning in a manuscript on time after all these years of writing.. . something here just doesn't seem right.

I hope that Weis and Hickman pull through. Even though I don't read their works anymore, you cannot think of Dragonlance without thinking of the two, and with them out, then it's truly dead.

Things have been "wonky" at Wizards as of late. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Hmm.

What do you mean?

Wow. I know very little of what's been going on with WOTC and their relationship with Weis Hickman as of late, but this just seems asinine.

Next thing you know, they will refuse to accept any manuscripts from R.A. Salvatore or Ed Greenwood.

If they'd stopped accepting manuscripts from Greenwood ten years ago, I might still be reading their books. :P

That said, yeah, this is really strange behavior. Color me baffled. I hope we find out what's going on here, because I cannot fathom what (other than maybe a Polymorph Brains to Mayonnaise spell) would cause a company to treat two of its franchise authors so poorly.

In the meantime, readers might want to try Secret of the Dragon's Eye and Secret of the Dragon's Breath, the first 2 books in a series of 6. The plot takes place during WWII in England, with an interfering dragon. I enjoyed both books a lot.
