"Robert Stanek shat directly into my soul" on Westeros! A poor, unsuspecting reader was swindled into buying a Stanek book via the Amazon review scam. Gotta feel for the poor bastard. . .

Haha, that forum thread is hilarious.
Sorry for the double post. I noticed Stanek's bumping all his year old threads with his alt accounts on the forums talking about how great he is.
The forum thread was funny - that bulletin board was downright alarming.
In the vast fantasy fiction wildnerness, I've seen the droppings and tracks left by the loathesomeness of Stanek. Largely because I went online in search of good sf&f.
Reading that Westeros thread had me laughing so frickin' hard, I had to go blow my nose, sneeze, infuse myself with some more caffiene and nicotine and read it again. Still not sure what the best part was, the title, or the hilariously false sincerity re: giving Stanek another go or getting into some real fantasy by reading Goodkind.
Here's a thought. I'd like to see someone put together a spoof skit where Stanek, the crawling and slimy publicity whore, approaches Goodkind, the arrogant narcissist, about making common cause in their quest to dominate the genre and defeat all the "haters."
Add: In the above mentioned scenario, I'm sure Stanek would get the royal brush-off, but it'd still be funny to see.
Haha that was hilarious, oh how bitchy I am.
Poor guy, but come on 80 5 star reviews! If I came across that I would go away at once. Nothing is that good
I actually know this "Sparhawk" character personally, I'm ashamed to admit. He is demented, and has the tastes of a 14-year old escapist emo-teen. A sad affair really - a 25-26 y/o guy clinging to Paolini, Stanek, Rowling and Mayer and refusing to accept any other author, unless they are ridiculously hyped and comercially successful...
"A sad affair really - a 25-26 y/o guy clinging to Paolini, Stanek, Rowling and Mayer and refusing to accept any other author, unless they are ridiculously hyped and comercially successful"
yes, but Stanek is not comercially sucessful and he is self published.
@Roland:
Are you saying you actually know a real-life person who likes Stanek's books?
And I notice you mention Stanek and JK Rowling in the same sentence, as though they were similar in quality.
...You're not *him*, are you ?
Yeah, sorry, poor choice of words. Rowling is vastly superior to all the others mentioned of course. I was just describing the range of the guy's tastes. And yes, he is very real. Happily, I think he will never get to reproduce...
Add: uhm... I've been posting in this blog for years now. I am definitely not *him*...
...*shivers*...
And yeah, I know Stanek's not successful. He was from an earlier period when Sparhawk was desperately looking for something to fill the void between Edings' books... That was before he found out about overhyped YA series. I think he has completely forgotten Stanek by now.
