It looks like a crappy, half-cut episode of Xena. Seriously, it looks awful. Not like I was expecting much from a guy who directed PATHFINDER and FRIDAY THE 13TH remake. And a script for a film that has FIVE writers listed....is NEVER a good sign. Sean Hood (wrote Cube2: Hypercube...blecch) was apparently the last writer to re-write the script to appease "PRODUCERS"...and we all know what that means. That means this flick is going to be utter and complete garbage.
It doesn't look far from that now.
Ah well, at least Momoa has Khal Drogo.
Every picture I have seen looks all wrong, so I am dreading this. The actor doesn't look like Conan at all to me. A Peter Jackson would have done it right.
"I'm scared that this will be a crappy stinker of a movie. . . :/"
Don't you want it in the true spirit? Just kidding. This omnipresent dark "oomp" style is really quite annoying. Talk about bankrupt...
Yeah, that looked pretty generic, but the soundtrack was tight, so at least that's one positive.
Looks horrible to me.
i remember seeing the movie for the first time when i was 15, the original of course.
it was 1991, seveal years after it was released.
effects then were not as impressive as they are now.
but it was a great movie, a myth in 2 hours, a whole adventure.
so now i see lots of special effects, but is there a story too ?
Also, it should be noted it comes out late in August...which is a set of weekends that are known (in Hollywood) as the weekend that movies go to die. Movies that producers KNOW are going to perform badly are put at the end of the summer, not the beginning.
At least there is a "slow motion walking away from an explosion" and slowed down battle sequences ripped off from the Matrix and 300. Otherwise it just needs goofy CGI scorpions and it would look like Clash of the Titans.
Seriously, this looks terrible. Maybe the first time a preview has converted me from wanting to see a movie to "meh, proably won't even rent."
How can Hollywood so consistently get it wrong?
Yes, I will give it a try. I can always skip ahead and end it if it sucks. Just like watching those Kung Fu movies without even bothering to use the subtitles. Ff to the fight scenes :) then oooh and aaahh then ff to the next one.
I can't believe how little of Conan they show in the actual Conan trailer. That's not a good sign. Who makes this crap? I love Conan, both the stories and the original movie. So of course they make this Clash of the Titans, Scorpion King crap fest. And who ever said the "soundtrack was tight"...I hope you are joking. Nothing says Conan like some cheesy guitar riffs stolen from 300. Try watching the original Conan if you want a real soundtrack. Someone do me a favour, scrap this pile of garbage and just release the original Conan on blu-ray already!!
Being a Conan fan and more importantly an REH fan, I'm a bit skeptical. Jason Momoa as Conan...Really? I mean Momoa looks more like Mowgli from the Jungle Book than Conan.
