I commend this series to your attention!!!

I just finished Ian Tregillis' Necessary Evil (Canada, USA, Europe) and man it was awesome! The Milkweed Triptych is definitely one of the very best speculative fiction series of the new millennium! Great read!

The trilogy begins with the excellent Bitter Seeds and is followed by The Coldest War. Do yourself a favor: Get your hands on these novels ASAP! You won't regret it!!!

Don't forget that you can still download Bitter Seeds for only 2.99$ here.

Here's the blurb:

It’s 1939. The Nazis have supermen, the British have demons, and one perfectly normal man gets caught in between.

Raybould Marsh is a British secret agent in the early days of the Second World War, haunted by something strange he saw on a mission during the Spanish Civil War: a German woman with wires going into her head who looked at him as if she knew him.

When the Nazis start running missions with people who have unnatural abilities—a woman who can turn invisible, a man who can walk through walls, and the woman Marsh saw in Spain who can use her knowledge of the future to twist the present—Marsh is the man who has to face them. He rallies the secret warlocks of Britain to hold the impending invasion at bay. But magic always exacts a price. Eventually, the sacrifice necessary to defeat the enemy will be as terrible as outright loss would be.

Alan Furst meets Alan Moore in the opening of an epic of supernatural alternate history, the tale of a twentieth century like ours and also profoundly different.

At the publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management software (DRM) applied.

I have to wait less than THREE more weeks for the final book in Milkweed trilogy!

After finishing the Coldest War, like you said, real doozy. I am bit apprehensive how will Necessary Evil ever match or exceed the mind blowing 2nd book? Should I adjust my expectations?

Can't wait!

Good review, pushed me to Audible to see if there was an audio version. There is, but apparently the narration is terrible. Publisher take note - sale lost; chose "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline instead....

@Davieboy,

I can't comment on all the books, but I found the narration of the first book quite good.

IMO Kevin Pariseau does a very good job.
