You should start with The Night's Dawn Trilogy. About 3700 pages for about £12!
To be honest it's a gift.
Start with the Nights Dawn, then the Commonwealth Trilogy and then the Void Saga ... 1000's and 1000's of later, come up for air and try the rest.
Seriously if you happy to put money in the author's pocket, then it doesn't get better than this.
