This definitely has an 80s AD&D feel to it.
Saladin Ahmed's fantasy debut,
Throne of the Crescent Moon, is one of my most eagerly anticipated speculative fiction titles of 2012. I haven't seen Betsy Wollheim as excited about a new author since Patrick Rothfuss!
Label me intrigued. . . =)

Alladin, God and some savage girl. It could win an award for worst cover of the year..........or ever.
That looks like Sean Connery as the white wizard casting some spells up there!
Oh. my. goodness. I am a sucker for these cheesy 80's covers and I LOVE IT! LOL
It looks like Moses is about to cast some type of High-Level Light Spell.
Gotta admit, I kind of like it LOL.
I'm with Moses. Yes, my taste sucks, but I like that cover.
I don't get this, who the hell picks these covers out? Do they get the cheesiest scene in the book and decide that's the one that's gonna sell the book? Either publishers are out of touch with their audience (which i suspect), or i'm losing my mind (which might also be the case). Either way this cover sucks. Thumbs down on this one.
The cover is a bit cheesy, but I have to admit I rather like it. At least the book itself should be good. I've read two of Ahmed's short stories and they were both great.
"you find yourself outside the city gates... the sun is setting and a horde of ghuls is heading for you... what do you do?"
"i cast "bless""
"i unsheath my scimitar and attack the nearest ghul"
"i am a badass vampiress, so i just roll a 20!"
