As far as she was concerned, ethics is an excuse for a deficiency in vision and outlook.
- K. J. PARKER, Blue and Gold (Subterranean Press)
This may not speak well of me, but I often find myself agreeing with this statement. . .
Fantasy and science fiction and speculative fiction book reviews, author interviews, bestseller news, contests and giveaways, etc. Enjoy!

It sounds cool in a teen "Fight Club" kinda way, but doesn't really say anything...

I ordered this book a while ago. Are you reading an advance copy?
Roland: You are probably an intellectual Leftist. For a Right-leaning person living in a soft-Left brown-nosing regime, it says a whole lot!
Khaled: Yes. Finished it last night and it's pretty damn good!
this sounds like what a psychopath might say.
Ah, you guys have no sense of humor! :P
Pat, I always try to stay away from labels. I have managed to not learn what "leftist" and "rightist" actually stand for, so I have no idea what I am supposed to be. I just think cool-sounding one-liners are generally meaningless, no matter the philosophy they proclaim.
humor ?
what kind of person will say that ethics is just a tool ?
only someone who doesn't need it, a psychopath.
Well I also agree with that statement, and to think my university asked my to aid in teaching an ethics course to master students.
What can I say... understanding the philosophical theory behind the current day concepts of ethics doesn't require agreeing with it.
Yay for supposed moral superiority, that can be so readily used to justify hypocrisy or complete lack of empathy towards what is really needed to fix problems.
I feel integrity overrules ethics. For I have done what some would consider unethical things to maintain mine.
How can you be just in an unjust world? It's all a matter of perspective.
K.J Parker is my revelation of the year. I just read A company and The Scavenger Triogy. I can't wait to read The Folding Knife or The Fencer Trilogy, do you have one to recommend?
