Just wondering... Why?
I kind of liked it. The home-movie POV made it a bit more realistic and affecting. The monster was pretty cool, and the ending worked.
What did you want, the civilians to kill the monster? Or are you angry that you didn't get to see more of the monster?
I thought it was awesome! I've seen it twice, and enjoyed it as much both times.
I really liked it. If you knew about the POV thing going into it, I really can't see anything to not like about it.
I thought the home-movie POV felt a bit "cheap." I was ready to open my veins about 20 minutes into it, and nothing at all saves this one.
The actresses playing Lili and Beth were gorgeous, and that's about the only positive I can think of.
Kind of a poor man's cross of Independence Day and Godzilla...

Ok, so not related to this entry, but I just found your blog and I just wanted to share how excited I am! Thanks for highlighting some "must reads" for me this year.
Oh, and I thought the movie sucked, too.
Yeah, I mean here we have essentially a giant monster movie, filmed as it would have been from the POV of really normal people making really normal decisions, in what are VERY extraordinary circumstances. This film isn't about the monster so much as it is about the people. I think that is why it is jarring, and unsettling to have it spliced throughout with the bits of stuff that Rob taped of his day with Beth a month earlier. Quite bittersweet. I LOVE that we know next to nothing about the main monster, nor much about the parasitic lice that drop off of it and rampage the city as well. I love that we didn't have long diatribes about where this thing came from, or why it was doing this....as it's not about that. It's about tragedy, love and doing what you feel is right, in the face of odds that are stacked against you.
Seriously, I fucking LOVED this film.
To each his own, I guess...:-)

I spent the entire movie with my head between my knees trying not to yak. The filming gave me one of the worst attacks of motion sickness I've ever experienced.
The movie sounded good though. . .
I can't even see this film. Just watching the commercials I get a headache from the camera movements. I saw Bourne Ultimatum last year and from the camera movement in that I actually got up and left to throw up once. Then I had a nasty headache all night. Barely got any sleep.

I haven't decided whether to see it or not; seems like a "love it or hate it" kind of movie. Since I don't know what side I'll land on, I guess that makes it a rental.
Was there at least female nudity?
Even a bad movie can be salvaged if we can see boobies.

*minor spoilers ahead*
This movie was a lot of fun; I thoroughly enjoyed it. The camera movements made me queasy, and I heard rather than watched a good portion of it (should have sat farther back), but other than that, no complaints. One of the scariest scenes for me was when the survivors were caught between the monster and the army (guns, tanks, rocket launchers, oh my!)
