Pre-order Richard Morgan's THE STEEL REMAINS at 50% off!

I don't know if this is a marketing ploy between Gollancz and Amazon. . .

But after Scott Lynch and Joe Abercrombie, it's now Richard Morgan's turn to enjoy a heavy discount regarding his fantasy debut. Indeed, you can now pre-order The Steel Remains at 50% off. Which means that you get a hardback edition for a little over six pounds on Amazon.co.uk!

Amazon.com only has it as an import (and it's not actually orderable anyway). Do you know if this The Steel Remains will even have a U.S. release? ;-(

If you want the cool U.K. cover, order from Amazon.uk.

BTW, Richard just won the Arthur C Clarke award, so how soon will we have that interview you promised?

As things stand, Del Rey has no plans to publish it any time soon. I've heard that they want the first two volumes in before they release THE STEEL REMAINS. Don't know if that's true. . .

As for the interview, since it will be to promote Morgan's fantasy debut, I reckon it will take place in late July or early August. . .

Darn...well, they released Naomi Novik's first few books a month apart, and I got the impression it worked well; maybe they want to do the same thing here.

Seems that play.com is selling it cheaper, at £7.49 for the hardcover, free delivery.

Also interesting to notice that play mentions the RRP being £9.99 and amazon mentions £12.99 :-)

Morgan's Black Man was also heavily discounted at one point in time - I picked up my hardcover copy at Amazon for £6.59

It is worth keeping in mind that Black Man was a year late and Gollancz had to push the date out because Morgan was running late with the manuscript. It would not be surprising for a US publisher to wait for the second title in his Fantasy series before publishing anything. Some recent high profile examples of Fantasy authors being late with their second or later books in a series has probably not inspired confidence in the Fantasy area.

Good to see Wert and Alice getting official coverage on Amazon's page for their reviews.

I'll also be interviewing Richard (with Robert, Fantasy Book Critic), so that should prove fun :)

Who are "Wert" and "Alice"?

Sometimes I think you have to be part of an exclusive blogger club to post anything.

Anyway, I'd like to know so I can look up what you are referring to.

Sorry.

Wert runs the blog The Wertzone seen to the right :)

Alice runs the blog Sandstorm Reviews. You can view both their blogs to the right :D

If you look at the Amazon UK post, it shows their quotes from their reviews.
