The Malazan Book of the Fallen is done!

This from Steven Erikson's Facebook page:

GASP! That would be me, coming up for air. How long was I down there? About twenty years, from conception to completion. The Malazan Book of the Fallen is done. Sure, editing and all that crap to follow. But ... done. I don't know who I am. Who am I again? What planet is this? Three months of butterflies ... maybe this double whiskey will fix that. Hmm. No. Delayed reaction going on here.

Roll on The Crippled God (Canada, Europe)!!!

Awesome! I wish more authors had such a clear plan for their series', and were able to wrap them in a timely fashion.

GRRM, Lynch, and Rothfuss need to take notice. Not only did Erikson finish his series, he did so by completing a book every 9 to 10 months.

Erikson's strong turn out rate and a guaranteed finish to the series were two of the reasons as to why I picked up the Malazan Series. Right now, I'm reading Midnight Tides, and the only regret I have is why I didn't pick these books up sooner.

How cool and ironic, as last week I've started the series for the first time! (following Tor's re-read)

Quite the accomplishment given the size and scope of that series.

a tear. sniff.

Well, not to bash GRRM but I believe since AFfC was released, Steven Erikson has published FIVE large novels with no sacrifice to the quality. I cannot wait until January :)

Gotta admire the guy's work ethic. That was simply amazing, an Olympic athelete among fantasy authors. With every novel I waited for the inevitable "unexpected delay" but it never happened, he followed through year after year.

Awesome news!
Now the dilema of whether or not to embark on a full series re-read before The Crippled God is published early next year.

Sweet merciful christ! For a first fantasy series (read by me, of course) I must say, it has been a hell of a ride.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and the best part.

HE DIDNT DIE AT THE MOST CRUCIAL POINT IN THE SERIES AND LEAVE MATERIAL FOR SOME HALF-ASSED AUTHOR *stares at brandon sanderson* TO COMPLEATE IT.

but wait. before you count out GRRM and LYNCH, one crucial thing to know is that with projects as epic as they have, it takes years to compleate them in a timely manner. yes: its all a matter of time.

Fuck yeah! Gonna have to start my Malazan re-read damn soon.

To all you pissants using this as an excuse to take a royal dump from your oh so great height on GRRM, Lynch, Jordan (he's DEAD for Chrissakes!!!) or any other author, you go write a popular fantasy series and then complain, until you do that just shut the fuck up and stop complaining.

I used to question GRRM until I realised the pointlessness of it, stop being immature turds and just enjoy all the fantasy that's out there.
