New cover art for Paul Kearney's CENTURY OF THE SOLDIER

Hmm, looks like they changed the cover art for the second Monarchies of God omnibus, Century of the Soldier (Canada, USA, Europe).

It will be published, along with the first omnibus, Hawkwood and the Kings (Canada, USA, Europe), later this year.

I'm quite curious to read these books. . .

Well if your curious then here is my review. I loved the first three books. I absoloutley love the characters. I read these books, after I read the one book he wrote in a series that later got cancelled. I really liked the Christian/Islam deity systems, and the reasons they fought each other. My problem came in with the werewolves. Everything is great for a couple of books, then BAM werewolves. Still It was an enjoyable read with great characters. I give it a 7.5 out of 10. You could certainly waste more time reading a goofkind or a drake, but why would you?

Not a bad series of books. I really enjoyed them until like the 3rd or 4th. The christianity/islam religion sets were great, and the reasons why they fought. Problem was after the 3rd book, BAM shapeshifters. They really had no place in the series, and IMO changed the dynamic of the series. All of a sudden they appear and are the true bad ones. Oh well, Paul tries in all of his books. I think he is certainly talented, he just needs to skip adding werewolves at the drop of a hat. 7.5 out of 10. Def worth a read. You could waste time reading goofkind or drake, but why would you?

The weres are present from the very start of Book 1 (they appear in the prologue) and feature most heavily in Book 2 (though still only as a subplot), so they don't really come out of nowhere. Also, I recall them only having very brief, cameo appearances in Books 3 and 4. They are not a dominant plot element in the books, with most of the focus being on the war in the east, but become more central in the final volume (which has been rewritten by Kearney for the omnibus).
