'Tis the Season

Here's what I have on tap from here till the Holidays. . .

Book Reviews

I'm currently reading Adrian Tchaikovsky's Empire in Black and Gold (Canada, USA, Europe), the winner of the last poll. I'm also about 100 pages into Busted Flush (Canada, USA, Europe), GRRM and friends' latest Wild Cards book, and it's pretty good so far!

After that, I will probably give Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman's Bones of the Dragon (Canada, USA, Europe) a shot, as this series is supposed to be their best after The Deathgate Cycle.

Other than these, I'm not sure yet. Perhaps Stephen King's The Drawing of the Three, Holly Phillips' The Engine's Child, Peter V. Brett's The Painted Man (Canada, USA, Europe), Kristin Cashore's Graceling, Jim Butcher's Storm Front, yada yada yada. As you can, there is no shortage of books for me to choose from!

Interviews

There will be an 11-way interview with the Wild Cards bunch to talk about Busted Flush. Hope it will turn out as good as the one we did for Inside Straight last year. . .

There will also be a Q&A with Weis and Hickman to learn more about Bones of the Dragon and the rest of the series.

There might be more, but only these two have been confirmed thus far. . .

Excerpts

There will be a sample from Weis and Hickman's Bones of the Dragon posted in late November.

In addition, I think I sold the idea of posting an excerpt to R. Scott Bakker! Chances are that you'll see a teaser from The Judging Eye (Canada, USA, Europe) soon, and maybe even a second excerpt closer to Christmas time.:-)

There is also the possibility that an excerpt from Kristin Cashore's Graceling will be posted in the coming weeks.

Again, there might be more, but you never know. . .

Giveaways

Quite a few great ones, all coming to you in the near future!;-)

I will make the announcement for a giveaway of the UK edition of Bakker's The Judging Eye at some point next week. Yet I'm also trying to get giveaways for both the Canadian and American editions.

My next contest will likely be for Neal Asher's The Gabble and other Stories (Canada, USA, Europe), followed by a giveaway for Tom Lloyd's US version of The Stormcaller (Canada, USA, Europe). I've inquired about the possibility of offering a full set of the UK edition of Lloyd's series, which would also include The Twilight Herald (Canada, USA, Europe) and The Grave Thief (Canada, USA, Europe), but I'm waiting for confirmation on that one.

I should soon make the announcement for a giveaway for a copy of GRRM and company's Busted Flush, autographed by all the contributors.

I will also have a contest for a few copies of Weis and Hickman's Bones of the Dragon, so stay tuned for that.

Last but not least, on the collector's editions front, the folks at Subterranean Press have been quite generous this month! Indeed, I will have a copy of the limited edition of Dan Simmons' Muse of Fire (Canada, USA, Europe, and http://www.subterraneanpress.com/), as well as a copy of the limited edition of Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book (Canada, USA, Europe, and http://www.subterraneanpress.com/) up for grabs! At 250$ a pop, the Gaiman will make a very nice Christmas present to whoever wins it!

All this and more, so don't go anywhere!:p

Could you ask Tracy and Margaret what happened with the third Lost Chronicles book? There was a bit of info a few months back about their publisher having given that book to someone else and I never could find out what happened after.

When you mentioned that you had a BIG Gaiman contest coming up I really hoped it would be this as I can't justify the purchase to myself! My fingers and toes are crossed in advance...

How about a review of Laura Resnick's "In Legend Born"? I know, I know, it's not new...
