Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina photo album

Montenegro makes for a nice couple of days, especially to discover just how rougher around the edges it is compared to its northern neighbor. Then again, unless you find yourself in the south of Croatia and have time to spare, Montenegro will probably not figure on your itinerary. If you are exploring the Bay of Kotor (like 99% of tourists), then you should definitely use Kotor as your home base. Budva has a very cheap and sleazy vibe meant to attract Russian and Ukrainian travelers. . .

On the other hand, Bosnia & Herzegovina should be on everyone's itinerary. Yes, signs of the war which saw the fragmentation of ex-Yugoslavia are still present and clash with the reconstruction efforts. But this is a country incredibly rich in history and culture, with friendly and curious people and the most tolerant brand of Islam I have ever seen. I wish I could have spend a couple more weeks exploring this fascinating country.

Follow this link to see the pictures. . . =)

Looks like a wonderful place. One of these days I'm going to have to visit a foreign land and not see it through a gun-site.

Your pictures are awesome, and again, I have many just like them. :) I need to get back to Bosnia... it gets in your blood. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Couldn't tell from the pictures, but did you go to Višegrad, the setting for Ivo Andrić's famous The Bridge on the Drina? Excellent book, by the way, currently in the midst of re-reading it for a future review.

Cool especially the tunnel where they get their medicine. Very historical indeed.
