UK cover art for Steven Erikson's DUST OF DREAMS

Like every other Malazan fan, I was excited when Ken posted a photograph of the cover art for the upcoming Dust of Dreams (Canada, Europe).

So I asked Erikson's editor to send me a jpeg of the cover art. You can now see it in all its splendor, though I must stress that this cover has not been finalized yet.

Now that we have the cover art and the prologue, I can't wait to get my hands on Dust of Dreams!

Man, this is really fantastic.

It is clearly by the same artist that did Bonehunters. I think that's even the same character, no? It's like this artist actually cares about being true to the descriptions in the books! A+!

Looks like one more title I'll have to order from the UK instead of getting the US edition...

And yes, I do judge a book by its cover (first).

^Dude you haven't even seen the US cover yet. Though I do think this UK one is great. Best UK cover of this style yet IMO.

Dude, going by past experience with US covers..

and I don't really care for US covers. they suck

Considering that it seems that Tor is reissuing the older books (GotM at least, in tradeback) with the newer UK cover, one might want to reserve judgment on the US cover art for this one until it's released.

Nice, I always pictured it being dark purplish with some gold splashes. Dont know why, but that name Dust of Dreams just summons those colors. Hopefully the US cover will be just as good.

It does look like the same character from the BH cover, but that would mean Kalam would be back. Hmmm..

Wtf? Tor is going with the new style now? I fucking hate it when series change art style in the middle of the series!

That's a crazy cool cover, I must say. I haven't gotten into this series yet, but I think that cover might get me into reading this one!

I don't think Tor will be using the UK artwork for the first editions; just the reprints of older books.

Myself, I'm really looking forward to seeing what Todd Lockwood does for the US cover. His covers seem to be either hit (RG, MoI, MT) or miss (BH, TtH) but they're always interesting.

It's not Kalam.

Who uses a bow upon a horse all the time, and would have an undead-looking horse, maybe because he's the herald of death...

This cover is certifiably BADASS, and may be the best cover yet in the series!

I emailed Bantam not too long ago asking about whether they will be releasing the earlier books in the series in hardcover with the UK cover art [I think only the last two or three can be gotten in hardcover].

Anyway, the reply from one of their editors replied and told me that they're hoping to release the entire series as a limited edition hardcover set with the UK art. Which means I'll just buy mass paperback until that day.

The UK artwork far outclasses the US editions.
