R. Scott Bakker news!

There have been rumors that R. Scott Bakker's final volume in The Aspect-Emperor series, The Unholy Consult, has been postponed and might not see the light next year.

Just heard back from Scott, and he is 2/3 into The Unholy Consult and it's still on track for its planned fall 2012 release date.

Can't wait!

Bakker is the man. I frikkin love his fantasy novels. I haven´t read his other books that seem to be like thrillers but I will soon. What I like the most in his books is that they move forwards, unlike most writers that keep writing and writing without going anywhere Bakker truly brings the story forward. I´m reading dance with dragons right now and the dany chapters stand till more or less. There are other chapters that move at a snails pace, like Tyrions. So bring it on Bakker. Can´t wait for the unholy consult. White luck warrior was this years best book imo.

I agree with what Anonymous said. Bakker can tell a story. He also is the finest stylist in Fantasy right now. He can sure string the words together.

My heart rejoices!!! Bakker is my favorite author. His books stir up so much emotion it's almost intoxicating, and the dark material leaves me depressed but wanting more! KEEP GOING BAKKER!!!

Such good news. Bakker sets the bar in fantasy right now.

The most criminally underread author out there. Not just in fantasy, like in literature period.

Despite the risk of appearing like a fanboy in-group... I have to agree with the above comments. If Bakker sets "the bar", we won't get to read a lot of similarly good fantasy though.

Best ongoing series right now and the one I'm most eagerly expecting the next installment. Scott keeps his writing tight and there's nothing superfluous, and the series won't spiral out of control with countless sequels. It's simply an awesome epic fantasy that's not going anywhere we can easily predict.

Read "Disciple of the Dog" as soon as possible. It is my personal favorite.

Thanks Jason, I will try Desciple of the Dog aftr I finish Dance with dragons which is actually pretty awesome, if anybody thought I was beeing to harsh on old george. The concept of Desciple sounds interesting:

“And you wonder why I’m cynical. I’ve literally ‘seen it all before.’ The truth is we all have, every single one of us past the age of, say, twenty-five. The only difference is that I remember.”

No matter how hard he drinks, gambles, or womanizes, Disciple Manning simply cannot forget: not a word spoken, not an image glimpsed, not a pain suffered. Disciple Manning has total recall. Whatever he hears, he can remember with 100% accuracy."

Now what I wonder is, if the protagonist is so badass, how about the villain?

If Bakker ever wants to do illustrated copies of his work, then I am your man. His descriptive writing has inspired my art work, so easy to visualize, that I just have to transfer it into the visual media So thanks Scott R. Bakker for renewing my interest in fantacy genre. Graeme C. Rhind
