After the most spectacular performance by a goalie in NHL playoff history, Jaroslav Halak, with his 53 saves on 54 shots by the highest scoring team in the league, forced a decisive game 7 tonight in Washington D. C.
As the 8th seed, the Montreal Canadiens limped woefully into the playoffs, requiring 4 games to collect a single point during the last game of the season against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Against all odds, the Habs won the first game against the high-flying Capitals. Down 3-1 in the series, the beat Ovi and his crew to tie up the series and force a do-or-die 7th game tonight.
Monday night's game was unbelievable. And tonight, the entire province will be watching on TV. It doesn't matter if they find out that both Elvis and JFK are still alive, or if London gets nuked tonight. Nothing, no matter how important an event, can make the front page of tomorrow's papers. Win or lose, today the sun rises and sets with the Canadiens. As it should be in the Métropole. . .
I wasn't a believer this year. I put Washington in 5 games in my playoff pool, and most people thought that the Habs would be swept in 4 games.
But this is game 7. And anything can happen. . .
Go Habs Go!=)

This has been one hell of a series!
As a Penguins fan, I too say; 'Go Habs!' :-)
Damn, and I used to like your blog. :-)
C-A-P-S CAPS! CAPS! CAPS!
I hope they win.........That way the road should be easy for the Pens to make it to the finals 3 years in a row..
As a life long Toronto fan I'd rather cheer for Al Qaeda than the Canadiens. With that being said Halak deserves credit where credit is do. Stopping 90 out of 92 shots is absolutely amazing.
Amazing! One, two and three go down in the east, Presidents' Trophy winner out in the first round again.
Go celebrate Habs fans!
Les Habitants!!!!!
Fuck me, but the Habs managed to do it! They eliminated the best offense in the NHL in 7 games!
Bring on the defending Stanley Cup champions!!!
Can you honestly believe the Habs beat out the Capitals!! Unbelievable!! With Montreal, Philadelphia, Boston and Pittsburgh moving on, one would think that the Penguins would be able to coast along to their third consecutive Eastern Conference Championship. But don’t jump to conclusions… look at how the Flyers dominated the Devils and have had time to rest, Boston looked great against Buffalo and well Montreal… they only just knocked off the best team in the NHL and a team with 33-more points than them in the regular season… but I see no reason Pittsburgh can’t win it all… and here is proff..: http://www.lionsdenu.com/nhl-playoffs-eastern-conference-round-two-preview-and-predictions/
I still can’t believe the Habs did it.. the East is WIDE open… I love playoff hockey!!!
I had ZERO Caps in my own playoff pool. I'm laughing now. :) It's a 9 man pool, and with Buffalo, NJ, and Washington out, 3 guys are down to only 4 of 12 players left (I'm at 9 of 12; I picked a couple of Phoenix players).
Of course, I do have Malkin and a couple of other Pens on my roster, so my cheering changes directions in this series.
Wow. Consider me stunned.
Enjoy the rest of the playoffs!
Congrats and good luck in round 2 from another Pens fan. I'm hoping Halak comes back to earth. Fleury has to step up his game or the Pens will suffer the same fate as the Caps.
