Guess who's back???

Following a brief stint in the realm of thriller novels during which he garnered not an ounce of respect, author Terry "Fantasy is for Hacks" Goodkind's next book will be a fantasy yarn involving the unforgettable duo of Richard and Kahlan! Can't wait to hear how this is by no means a return to the fantasy genre. . .;-)

Smart money says that Kahlan almost gets raped, Richard the righteous will give a 10-page speech, and at least one sorceress will flash her tits to get out of a bind. One can only hope that there will be some Gratch lovin'!:P

I noticed this on Goodkind's website this morning. After reading the "What the hell?!" that was Law of Nines, I'm more than a bit concerned about this new novel. The fact that it's called a 'Richard and Kahlan' novel as opposed to a 'Sword of Truth' novel probably indicates that, once again, Goodkind wants to shrug off the 13 books that gave him international success, but in the end can't help but returning to it because that's all he knows.

I am a self confessed Sword of truth fan though, so I will in all liklihood read this when it comes out. I can't help but think this may be Goodkind's attempt at breaking into the YA market, which may mean considerably less rape (yay!)

Boooo-hisssss! Maybe he will actually admit he is just a mediocre fantasy novelist. I would have a little more respect for the man if he didn't just ooze ego in every photo and interview.

I've still never read anything by Goodkind, and given what I've read about his overinflated ego I really have no desire to.

guess who's back ? shady's back ...
patrick, i appreciate that you are consistent about your priorities, i do, i am much the same, but still, goodkind is an established author.
you can't take that away from him, no matter what you say.
you may not like his style or whatever, but I don't understand your antagonism towards him, not the first time i think.
just remember he actually finished a series, unlike your friend rothfuss ...

btw, i stopped being a fan of his books after the 6th book, about his personality i have nothing bad to say, i've seen a lot worse, for example, the anti semite chiena meilvile (sorry for terrible spelling).

I couldn't resist clicking the link and that video was just painful.

Yes, bombastic is the adjective that comes to mind when visiting the Terry Badmean website. In a way I find it sadly amusing.

I have accomplished allot in my life, but I hope my ego never gets that big if I ever get a novel published. Or dare to dream, finish a series.

Chances are Richard and Kalahan will show up in his 'Totally a different story we swear' that's set in the modern world. Which, apparently, is actually the world from the end of The Sword of Truth that all the evil people get sent too and forget their memories and lose their magic. Only some of them dont.

Psshhh... I think Patrick Rothfuss said it best:

"anti semite chiena meilvile "

Yeah, right.

Looking at the unexplainable success of Goodkind (even the defenders call him mediocre at best), it seems that fantasy readers DO like to read hacks, so that his fantasy bashing is just a form of indirect self-awareness.

Now now, everyone, don't get so down on Mr. Goodkind. His last book was even halfway decent, if only because I got it on sale for $5 :P

Still amused by the "not fantasy" idea. He's certainly not fooling me, so who is he fooling??

I picked up the first book after hearing good things and I was surprised by how much anal rape was discussed within.

I seriously don't understand this hatred some people here have for goodkind.
yeah, ok, you don't like his books, you don't like his views, so what ?
you keep on and on about it, makes me think of that line i heard someone say :
the more upset you are over something, the more you care about it.

are you hiding something ?
anal rape ?
what ?
in a midevil world, anal rape was far from the worse, it's called realism, unless you think that wot is realistic IN THAT REGARD, huh ?

Hitler hating on TG was pretty good. But if you want the unabridged version go here.

Oh man! That Hitler bit might not be as good as the one they did when the Giants eliminated the Cowboys, but it's pretty damn funny!;-)

Was the chorus in that clip on the Badmean website chanting "Sodom ... sodom ... sodom ...", or is it just me?
It certainly would fit with the whole anal rape angle.

I'm with machinery on this one.

I never understood all the hatred towards Goodkind on the fantasy forums. Also Terry Brooks doesn't get much love either. Why? If it wasn't for these guys I would have never gotten into reading fantasy and never gotten to enjoy authors like Martin, Jordan, Hobb, etc.

Bash Goodkind (and Brooks) all u guys want but there's no denying that they've brought millions of new reader/fans into the SFF genre.

Of course it's not a "return" to fantasy, Pat, because he never wrote fantasy in the first place. If you think that, then you're obviously not old enough to be reading his books.
