George R. R. Martin, Brandon Sanderson, Kevin J. Anderson, Christopher Paolini, Peter Orullian, Patrick Rothfuss, and K.J. Taylor discussed epic fantasy during this SDCC 2011 panel. Too bad only about 30 minutes out of the 102-minute footage are available at the moment.
Hopefully Shawn can retrieve the rest. . .

The bigger tragedy is letting Keven J Anderson sit in on that. Who's sci-fi world is he going to take on and destroy next?

I was being sarcastic and questioning Christopher Paolini's credentials for being on a panel next to some fairly good authors.
An effort like 'Eragon' really does not entitle him to even sit in the same room as Messrs Martin and Rothfuss.....let alone presume to discuss 'epic fantasy' as a panellist.
Classing him as an authority certainly stretches my imgination fantastically and epicly.
What the hell is Peter Orullian doing up there? His book was a travesty and probably set fantasy fiction back 10 years.

Paolini...I wanna punch the guy who even thought of inviting the dude.
I think the interconnectedness of the small with the large, of things far apart, is really central to epic fantasy
