Win the Todd Lockwood lithograph of your choice

When I first approached Todd Lockwood (the artist who brought us the gorgeous US cover art for Toll the Hounds)about the possibility of doing a giveaway, we were not quite sure what the best alternative would be. A print showcasing a Salvatore or an Erikson book cover would make a great prize for fans of those authors, but would prove to be of little interest to other SFF fans.

When I asked Lockwood about the possibility of having the winner select the lithograph of his or her choice from the artist's website, he immediately went along with the idea. So here's the deal: Peruse Todd Lockwood's galleries on his website, (http://www.toddlockwood.com/) and choose which art print strikes your fancy. As you can see, this post includes a few sample of the artist's superb work.
The winner will get a Giclee of anything found on Lockwood's site. The dimensions vary from piece to piece, so check out that information as you go through the different art prints. Essentially, we're taking about a 120$ value, so it's about as sweet as it gets!;-)

I've contacted Komarck and Martiniere regarding similar giveaways, but I haven't heard back from them yet. . .
The rules are the same as usual. First off, you need to send an email at reviews@(no-spam)gryphonwood.net with the header "LOCKWOOD." Remember to remove the "no spam" thingy.
Second, your email must contain your full mailing address (that's snail mail!), otherwise your message will be deleted.

Lastly, multiple entries will disqualify whoever sends them. And please include your screen name and the message boards that you frequent using it, if you do hang out on a particular MB.
Good luck to all the participants!

This is an awesome idea! In fact, I think you should start doing it with other artists and make it a regular feature :) There's a ton of amazing artists out there!

Wow. This has to be the best giveaway yet. Although I think I have said that before...

As I mentioned, I did contact other artists, but i haven't heard back from them.

And the prizes come from the artists themselves, not wealthy publishers. So that's a lot of dough coming out of their pockets.

Which is why we're testing the waters with this giveaway -- to see if it's worth Todd's while to do this. So visit his website and buy prints!;-)

Depending on the exposure that Todd Lockwood gets with such a contest, it will determine if it's worthwhile to do more of the same...:-)

To All: Todd is one of the coolest guys I have met, let alone artists. He really is a down to earth man who loves art and the fantasy genre as a whole. I've been to his home, seen his art office, and it is the place of frickin' cool dreams!

I highly recommend buying some of his art. I have one of his dragon giclees up on my wall; I will definitely be buying one soon.

Just an odd side note: the paintings you guys see online pale in comparison to the giclees you'd be receiving. For instance, the giclee to Midnight Tides by Erikson is one of the most beautiful uses of light in art I've ever seen, but that doesn't come through in the .jpg format for some reason. Just know these are far more beautiful than what you see online.

When you title the email, do you include the final period? Example: "LOCKWOOD" vs "LOCKWOOD." ?

I sent mine without the end period. Is my entry wasted? :(

I always include EXACTLY what's in between the quote marks, which usually means a period. I've won three times in the past although not for some time. There's obviously a lot more competition now.

Look, guys, I'm not a Nazi! Get the header right, with or without the period, and I'm satisfied.

Having said that, would you believe that some bozos can't even do that!?!

Shawn C. Speakman said...

Bozos are clowns, and clowns are stupid. hehe

Clown will eat me.

Pat - ever thought about adding a message board to this site? I'm not a massive fan of author/series specific boards and prefer just general fantasy speak - and although other boards generally have these areas, they are still specific sites to that author.

This is a really cool giveaway. Even if I don't win, thanks to Todd Lockwood for sponsoring this one. I really dig his Malazan and Drizzt covers.

Great giveaway idea Pat! I've always liked the cover art for Midnight Tides despite just barely getting past GoTM. I suppose I will have to give in to all of the peer pressure and read the rest of the series if I win this and have its art on my wall. :P

Wow, great contest idea! I love Todd Lockwood's work and have been following his art for a while, particularly his Drizzt covers. :)

As Shawn said, Todd is a really good guy. I picked up a rather massive print from him last year at WFC and had the opportunity to talk to him about it for a while.

Great idea for a contest and with any luck it'll steer some business his way. Hell, I just might go buy something anyways as a show of support for the idea. :)
